This linen sampler was made by Mary M Kerr in January of 1840. The blue, brown, and cream stitching colors are still quite vibrant and display Mary's practice of the alphabet and of numbers. In addition, she adorns the sampler with two baskets of fruit. The sampler measures 13 and a half inches by 8 and a half inches. An appropriate maple frame encases the sampler. The frame measures about 16 inches by 11 inches. The overall design of the sampler is most appealing in its composition and simplicity.
